young artist study

This work was completed as part of my Arts Based Research at Boston University.

This series narrates the life-worlds of a diverse group of young artists (my students) as told through their art. I juxtapose portraits of children with images I have recreated from their artwork. Bright colors, fictional characters, scribblings, symbols, and simple renderings of lives lived and imagined appear alongside the artist who created them in my collaborative compositions. The images are filled with imagination, creativity, vision, and hope. They represent the interests and passions of young people as told through the lens of my observation.
